Customer Challenge

CH&CO's success is built on creating great food experiences that lift the spirit. Key to this is empowering their teams through skills and knowledge to be the best that they can be. Agile, efficient and secure IT systems are a key to facilitating the CH&CO team. Over the past three years, the IT team has taken on a range of ambitious projects. The IT team are resilient and inventive and managed to successfully deliver the first major project in the middle of the Covid-19 pandemic.

From January to June 2020, in the middle of a global pandemic, Redfaire and CH&CO:
• Upgraded JD Edwards EnterpriseOne 9.0 to the latest version, 9.2.
• Moved JD Edwards ERP onto Oracle Cloud Infrastructure.
• Implemented Oracle’s Virtual Database (Extreme Performance) on Oracle Cloud Infrastructure.

In 2022, the team continued by:

  • Upgrading to JD Edwards Release 22 and 32-to-64-bit JDE conversion. This means that CH&CO is now code-current.
  • Implementing WAF & Oracle Identity Access
  • Implementing Redfaire’s Accounts Payable Automation Solution, AP CONNECT.

Solution

Since January 2020, Redfaire has worked with CH&CO on a range of transformative projects:

JD Edwards EnterpriseOne 

Having the latest version of EnterpriseOne:

  • Empowers the team to automate time-consuming, manual processes. For example, thanks to orchestrations, CH&CO:
    • Automated the payment process. APIs were used to integrate JD Edwards with a third-party payment approval system. Orchestration enabled the team to set up validations prior to the files being sent to the third-party software.
    • Improved the bank reconciliation process, EnterpriseOne Orchestrations were used to automate the daily integration of bank statement files in E1 and to individually treat each bank account for automatic reconciliation.
  • Improves end-user experience and efficiency: End-users have access to features such as watchlists and CaféOne to personalize their dashboards and to set up relevant notifications.
  • No more ‘big bang’ upgrades: Being on Release 22 means that now updates are delivered on a quarterly schedule which means that business gets all the latest functionality as soon as it’s released, rather than having to wait for a big upgrade project.
  • More Robust Security: Being on the Cloud and on the latest version of the ERP means that security is reinforced.

Moving JDE on to Oracle Cloud Infrastructure

CH&CO Group selected Redfaire’s Cloud 9 service, which facilitates a fast, hassle-free move onto Oracle Cloud Infrastructure. Cloud 9 includes a fully managed service. Moving the ERP to Oracle Cloud has delivered:

  • Improved ERP performance and platform stability.
  • Guaranteed best-in-class security with end-to-end encryption and protection.
  • Reduced IT maintenance costs thanks to a fully managed service delivered against an SLA.
  • Robust Disaster Recovery supporting full invocation testing.

Oracle Database

As part of the Upgrade process Redfaire also implemented Oracle’s Virtual Database (Extreme Performance) on Oracle Cloud Infrastructure.  Benefits delivered included:

  • Faster business reporting
  • A robust disaster recovery solution thanks to active data guard which provides for a fast DR point objective.

Automating Accounts Payable

  • Improved visibility and transparency of A/P activities. The Finance team can see the number of invoices in process, at each stage, and at any time.
  • Automated matching of Invoices to PO receipts. Redfaire’s enhanced Voucher Match Automation is achieving an average of 53% automation monthly and will get even better.
  • More efficient notifications. Several types of notifications can be activated from the Workbench with full audit history thus eliminating the need for additional emails and tracking via Outlook.

With ambitious growth plans, DX needed a partner that would help them lay the foundations for growth with a modern ERP in the Cloud.
